Trees and Planning
Planning applications, that may affect trees, are required to include a tree report that assesses the impact of the proposed development on the local tree cover. Reports for this purpose must be carried out in accordance with BS5837:2012 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction.
We can assist you in all stages of the process, providing:

Tree Surveys and Inspections
Tree owners have a duty of care to prevent injury or damage to property or people from foreseeable hazardous trees under the Occupiers' Liability Act.
We provide Quantified risk assessments of tree populations to enable landowners to minimize this risk by:
- Identifying risk zones
- Recommending remedial works
- Managing tree works budgets
Our surveys allow for long term management of tree populations with schedules and information mapping that is easy to use in the office or in the field.
All our surveyors hold the Lantra Professional Tree Inspection Certificate.
We are registered Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) practitioners.
Recommendations are in accordance with BS3998:2010 ‘Recommendations for tree works’.
Tree Health and Decay Assessments
At O Frost Arboriculture we have an evidence based approach to evaluating tree health. Initially we carry out a visual tree assessment (VTA) to determine condition. If necessary, we have a range of further investigative techniques in our armoury:
- Detect and quantify decay

- Assess a tree's energy reserves

This information enables us to make the right recommendations for the tree and the locality.
